The first services for what would become Bethany Church of Berwick were held in April 1901 at Jessup Street School. Dedicated in 1902, the North Berwick Evangelical Church became Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1946. The congregation dedicated the current sanctuary in 1952 and the parsonage in 1966.
Merger of the EUB and Methodist denominations in 1968 resulted in the church being renamed Bethany United Methodist Church. Bethany consecrated a $1.5 million addition in 1997 and launched Bethany Blessings preschool and day care the following year.
In 2023, Bethany changed its named to Bethany Church of Berwick and affiliated with the new Global Methodist Church, joining a movement dedicated to making “disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.”
